Swat

Mingora is a city surrounded by the breathtaking natural beauty of the enchanting valley, boasting towering mountains, ancient ruins, and dense forests. Each year, thousands of tourists visit these captivating landscapes.

From May 1 to July 31, 2024, a remarkable 1,634,629 tourists visited Swat, including international travelers. While tourism is a vital part of the region’s economy, the rising number of visitors has placed increasing pressure on the city’s water supply system. In response, the Local Government Elections and Rural Development Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with financial backing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), has launched the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project. This initiative aims to enhance the water infrastructure in Mingora, ensuring the city can accommodate its growing number of visitors without compromising its resources.
