Pedestrianization of Old City Area

    • Restructuring streets to improve walkability, accessibility and uniformity. The project aims to revive the Sadar Bazaar area of Abbottabad into an attractive green urban marketplace by creating a gender-inclusive and interconnected pedestrianized network of streets with limited access to motorized traffic, and reclaiming public space and enhancing environmental quality.

> Construction of permeable pedestrian pavement on 19 streets and alleys
> Restricted access to cars and public transport
> Street lighting (three types)
> Sidewalks on selected segments with bollards
> Provision of street furniture: benches, recycling bins, drinking water fountains and planters
> Vegetated medians and/or road buffers on Eid Gah Rd West, Main Bazaar Rd, Atta Mandi Rd and Local Rd of Noor Din Bazaar
> Uniform shop and traffic signage
> Painting of building façades and shutters
> Bunching of electric wires and encasing of electricity meters and transformers
> Covering of open drains and installation of grills
> Ramps between sidewalks and pedestrian only paths
> Parking spaces for over 50 motorbikes will be allocated on main streets
> Solar shed for parking space on Main Bazaar Rd
