The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project is envisioned to be a key development project starting in five major cities initially i.e. Abbottabad, Kohat, Mardan, Mingora and Peshawar of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the aim to extend quality municipal services to the Urban Centers of the province. The aim of KPCIP is to provide Clean Drinking Water, Solid Waste Management, Sanitation and Development of Urban / Green Spaces. This will improve the living standards of the urban population by improving their access to quality urban services. All the projects are end-to-end solutions rather than piece meal projects in order to have complete solutions for the communities. Institutional reforms and capacity building programs have been coupled with investment projects including preparing business plans and capacity development of the WSSCs and Local Development Authorities to increase their efficiency in operating these and other investments.
