Kohat

Kohat, strategically located on the resource-rich Indus Highway, serves as the gateway to the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. With the discovery of oil and gas reserves in the neighboring Karak district, both travel and population in Kohat have surged, placing immense pressure on the city’s existing water supply and drainage systems.

To address these challenges, the Local Government Elections and Rural Development Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), has launched the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP). This initiative aims to upgrade the city’s water and drainage infrastructure, ensuring it can meet the demands of its growing population. Details of the ongoing projects are provided below
