Message from the Secretary Local Government, Elections & Rural Development

As I step into the role of leading governance reforms, I am honored to build upon the work of my skilled and accomplished predecessors. Our foremost priority is delivering services that are swift, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A central element of effective governance is the open and transparent exchange of information. We are therefore committed to strengthening two-way communication with our partners and stakeholders, with a special focus on the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

With the rapid changes in today’s socioeconomic landscape, it is essential that the Local Government, Elections & Rural Development Department continually modernize its approach. As citizen engagement becomes fundamental to effective governance, we must innovate with proactive, citizen-centered communication strategies to keep pace with evolving needs.

Our vision for communication is clear: to set the standard as a transparent, responsive public institution, representing the provincial government in providing municipal services. To uphold the reputation, we have built through consistent and effective communication, we are committed to sharing vital information on services, budget transparency, and updates in the local government charter. We aim for a communication framework that empowers citizens with timely and accessible information, enabling us to meet their needs with integrity.

Communication will continue to be a strategic priority across all departments and field units, including the Directorate General of Local Government, Local Council Board, Water & Sanitation Services Companies, and Urban Areas Development Authorities. By building upon the knowledge and progress achieved, we will reinforce effective, unified communication throughout our tehsil and village councils in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Project Director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project and his team for their dedication in developing this vital website for KPCIP. This platform will serve as a key resource for transparency, keeping citizens informed on the progress of critical projects. Together, we move forward to make government services more accessible, transparent, and effective for every citizen.
